Market breadth

How many stocks took part in the last session: how many closed higher and lower, how many sit above their 20, 50 and 200-session averages, how many closed at a 52-week high or low, and how many have an RSI past 30 or 70. Every reading carries its count; a cohort under 100 stocks is withheld.

Session Mon, Oct 19, 2026. End-of-day bars. Percentiles appear once 60 sessions are recorded (0 so far).

Cohorts by 20-session average dollar volume. A 52-week closing high is a close at the highest of the last 252 sessions, that session included. Averages and RSI are the charts' own studies over split-adjusted bars. Counts of stocks, not weights: a measurement of participation, not a call on where the market goes.

Questions

What is market breadth?

How widely a move is shared: whether most stocks rose with the index, or a few large ones carried it. These readings count stocks, not dollars, so each one weighs the same.

Which stocks are counted?

The same universe as the scans: about 5,700 US common shares, ADRs and trust units with a session on file, from end-of-day bars. ETFs are not counted. The cohorts split it by 20-session average dollar volume.

What do the percentiles mean?

Where today's share sits among the sessions already on file: 90 means it was higher on only 10% of them. They appear once 60 sessions have been recorded, and the history starts when this page did.
