ITEM 2. PROPERTIES
As of August 28, 2021, we owned or leased approximately 250 facilities containing an aggregate of approximately 8.1 million square feet located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Nicaragua. We owned 134 of these facilities, containing approximately 6.3 million square feet. These facilities include our 325,000 square foot Owensboro, Kentucky distribution center and almost all of our industrial laundry processing plants. We believe our industrial laundry facilities are among the most modern in the industry.
We own substantially all of the machinery and equipment used in our operations. We believe that our facilities and our production, cleaning and decontamination equipment have been well maintained and are adequate for our present needs. We also own a fleet of approximately 4,100 delivery vans, trucks and other vehicles.
